He has served as Minister of State Secretary, Member of DPR/MPR RI, Minister of Law and Legislation, Minister of Justice (now Minister of Law and Human Rights), and served as Ad Interim Minister of Foreign Affairs State and Minister of Defense. He was elected as a lawyer for the candidate pair President Jokowi – Ma’ruf Amin and became the Leader of the Lawyers Team consisting of 33 (thirty-three) Lawyers in the Dispute Results of the Presidential and Vice-Presidential Election in the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia in 2019.
